The Somerville YMCA is part of the nation’s largest provider of child care, the YMCA of the USA. It is well known for its long tradition of commitment to youth and families and its standards of excellence in child care programming.
ABOUT THE CENTER
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY We believe that a child develops to his/her full potential when given the opportunity to experience and explore age-appropriate activities with guidance, love and support of trained and dedicated Elementary Age educators. This philosophy integrates the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of the whole child. We encourage the development of independent learning while providing guidance and praising success.
STAFF As Elementary Age educators, we recognize the behavior of children occurs in developmental stages. We offer both children and parents support and ideas on ways to identify and respond to these stages. Staff at the Somerville YMCA SACC Center are carefully selected and screened by the director for their maturity, their expertise in Elementary Education and their caring interactions with children.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT Parents are an integral part of our approach to providing each child with individual care and attention. We maintain open lines of communication with parents in responding to their suggestions and concerns on all issues related to the development of their children.

Each classroom maintains a staff/child ratio monitored and regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
