ABOUT THE CENTER

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
We believe that a child develops to his/her full potential when given the opportunity to experience and explore age-appropriate activities with guidance, love and support of trained and dedicated Early Childhood educators.  This philosophy integrates the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of the whole child.  We encourage the development of independent learning while providing guidance and praising success.

STAFF
As Early Childhood educators, we recognize the behavior of children occurs in developmental stages.  We offer both children and parents support and ideas on ways to identify and respond to these stages.  Staff at the Somerville YMCA Preschool Center are carefully selected and screened by the director for their maturity, their expertise in Early Education and their caring interactions with children.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Parents are an integral part of our approach to providing each child with individual care and attention.  We maintain open lines of communication with parents in responding to their suggestions and concerns on all issues related to the development of their children.

Each classroom maintains a staff/child ratio monitored and regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
